Meet Your Teacher

I'm Courtney Hopkins

Graphite Artist

Having spent my entire life exploring and living near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I’ve developed a deep passion for exploring nature and capturing it through art. My style of art is characterized by realism, high contrast values and vivid color. Recreating landscapes and botanicals in this detailed, meditative way has enriched my life and elevated the professionalism of my artwork. I started my art business, Tiny Pine Art, in 2019 and, since then, have been selling my original artwork, prints and a range of custom commissions.

I know how intimidating it can feel to want your art to look more professional and not know how to get it there. I also know how discouraging it can feel to have the courage to try and then hit pitfalls with your tools and materials that end up making you feel stuck and lost in the process. With the right understanding of the tools and the right perspective, you CAN do it too! In my classes, my goal is to empower you to attempt things that feel intimidating, lead you past the pitfalls and straight to the tools and techniques that will elevate your artworks to the next level, all in an encouraging and straightforward way.
