Katie Podracky

Oil, Still Life

Katie Podracky is an impressionist painter from Greensboro, N.C. Featured in Our State Magazine in 2022, Katie’s work is full of vibrant color and joy. Her paintings embody over 25 years of exploring color, brushwork and the pure delight of playing with art supplies.
Katie began her artistic career with a double major in art and biology, followed by graduate painting courses and a master’s degree in teaching. She’s taught everywhere from the public schools to the yacht club, with hundreds of students ranging in age from 5 to 95. Her love of art and delight in her students shines through in her paintings and classes too.

Katie’s love of nature and adventures with her family frequently inspire her paintings. In 2020, Katie and her family visited every N.C. State Park and she painted works from each location. What could have turned into one of the worst years of her life turned into one of the best. Currently Katie is creating a new collection of landscapes based on her travels to the National Parks and experimenting with her own handmade paints based on the rich red clay soils from her childhood home. Her work is collected across the United States and featured in the permanent collections of four universities and multiple corporations, hotels & individuals.
